Family policy and social justice – How responsibility and effectively invest in human capital?

The article analyses family policy as one of the areas where the idea of social justice should be implemented. It revisits the concept of social justice, reviews the definition of social policy (especially family policy), and discusses the role of family in human capital development. Based on examples from Poland (2015–2021), it explores how family policies reflect or neglect justice and responsibility. It also engages the concepts of “tragedy of the commons” and “free-rider problem” to explain how family contributions are often underappreciated. The article concludes that effective family policies must align with principles of capital creation, responsibility, and justice. [...]

Family policy and social justice – How to responsibly and effectively invest in human capital?

This article analyzes family policy as a key area for the application of social justice. It revisits the concept of justice, examines the scope of family and social policy, and emphasizes the role of families in developing human capital. Drawing on Polish policy examples from 2015–2021, it shows the disproportionate burden on families raising children and argues for better recognition and compensation. Concepts like the “tragedy of the commons” and the “free-rider problem” illustrate systemic issues.
